The Experimentation with Colpitt’s Oscilllator is an elite training system for the analog electronics laboratories. It is useful in understanding the basic concepts and functioning of Colpitt’s Oscillators, and their use in generation of Sinusoidal Waveform. The trainer describes the complete designing of the Oscillators. The training system is designed in such a way that for performing any experiment students have to connect the links by patch cords hence it is very helpful for students to learn step by step design of each of the Oscillator.
Colpitt’s oscillator was invented by American scientist Edwin Colpitt’s in 1918. It is another type of sinusoidal LC oscillator, which has a lot of applications. The Colpitt’s oscillator can be realized using valves, transistors, FETs or op-amp. It is much similar to the Hartley oscillator except tank circuit. In Colpitts oscillator the tank circuit consists of two capacitors in series and an inductor connected in parallel to the serial combination. The frequency of the oscillations are determined by the value of the capacitors and inductor in the tank circuit.
